governance

Governance, or more traditionally Corporate Governance, is the set of laws, regulations, policies, control frameworks, agreements and processes by which oversight of an organisation is achieved. One of the most significant causes of charity failure is poor or inadequate governance.

One of the biggest barriers to achievement in any organisation is a governance framework which is onerous and overly prescriptive in nature. As with most things in life, good governance is about achieving a balance which provides for good stewardship whilst avoiding the pitfalls of a bureaucracy.

At CGPM we believe that too much governance is as bad as too little. We provide a range of services to help you ensure that your framework is proportionate to the scale of your organisation; meets the needs of those charged with governance in the organisation and will enable you to meet any regulatory and compliance obligations. Services include:

  • Full governance review;
  • Constitutional compliance review;
  • Board evaluation;
  • Facilitated strategic planning;
  • Strategic project management;
  • Board and senior management training; and
  • Board secretary - management of calendar, meetings, minutes and papers, provision of governance advice.
